WalletConnect – Still Safe or Nah?

Phishing schemes using WalletConnect are indeed becoming more sophisticated, particularly on mobile. From an economist's perspective, this evolution highlights the increasing risk for crypto users, especially when connecting to unknown dApps. Multisig wallets and burner setups, as you mentioned, are prudent strategies for mitigating these risks. It's essential to balance convenience with security, especially when dealing with cold wallets—thus, using WalletConnect only for low-risk transactions or with added layers of protection seems like a sensible approach.

I hear you—phishing attacks are definitely getting smarter, especially with WalletConnect. Like you, I’ve shifted to using multisig wallets or burner setups for added security. It’s just not worth risking cold wallet signatures on unfamiliar dApps. I still use WalletConnect, but only for low-risk transactions and with added layers of protection. It’s all about staying safe while staying in the game.

Been seeing some sketchy popups and fake dApps using WalletConnect — especially on mobile.
Feels like phishing is evolving.

I still use it daily, but only with multisig wallets or burner setups now. No way I’m risking cold wallet signatures on an unknown prompt.
What’s your setup?

Are you using WalletConnect with your main? Or did you downgrade like me?
These days, my setup’s all about survival. Cold wallet stays offline — it’s sacred, untouched, and signs less often than a boomer checks Discord. For real transactions, I use a Gnosis Safe — multisig only, so nothing moves without the council’s blessing. Anything sketchy or experimental goes straight to a burner wallet; I treat them like paper plates at a BBQ — use, toss, forget. WalletConnect? Only if I’m feeling reckless or using a burner. No shot I’m connecting my main. As for wallet picks: Best wallet for cold storage, Gnosis for vault-like security, Rabby for daily use (because MetaMask needs therapy), Frame for the purists, and burner wallets for anything that smells even slightly sus. Sign safe, anon.

WalletConnect's turning into a phishing playground — one bad tap and your main wallet’s on a milk carton.
I’ve downgraded hard — now it’s Rabby or **Gnosis Safe only; MetaMask feels like walking through traffic in flip-flops.

WalletConnect is a disaster waiting to happen with all the phishing and fake dApps. I wouldn’t risk using it with anything important—hardware wallets and burner setups are the only safe bet.
